Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate and estate administration in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce custody, child support and guardianships - aswell as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to every client's need.
